Across the lake to the west of the island that the castle stood on, was another island. On this island stood the abbey that you see in this picture. Like the island with the casle the only thing on this island was the abbey and a lot of trees. From the ruins you could tell at one time this abbey was a decent size. No where as big as Boyle abbey or Kylemore Abbey, but what it lacked in size it made up for by being located in the middle of Lough Key.
