| Kylemore Abbey is located in Connemara, County Galway, west of Leenane on the N59. Originally built as a castle in 1868, today Kylemore is the home of the Irish Benedictine Nuns. The abbey sits at the base of Durchruach Mountain (1,736 feet high) and on the shores of Lough Pollacappul. Kylemore Abbey is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Ireland.
