Beaghnore Stone Circles are located just west of Cookstown in the Gortin
Glenn Forest Park, in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. We stopped at Beaghmore
Stone Circles on the way to Armagh after going to the Giant's Causeway near
Bushmills. Beaghmore is another one of the Megalithic sites we visted on
our trip. Seated at the foothills of the Sperrin Mountains, Beaghmore is
made up of seven stone circles and ten stone rows. There is also presence
of stone cairns at Beaghmore. The stone circles date back to 2,000 - 1,200
B.C. (The Bronze Age). Although uncertain what these circles and rows represent most
believe that they have to do with astrological events. Beaghmore was first
excavated between 1945 - 1949 and in 1965.
